Case Study: AGL Customer Council.

The AGL Customer Council acts as an advisory body to AGL in its national energy supply operations. AGL and the Customer Council meet together quarterly as equal partners to discuss and provide advice on issues of relevance to the supply of energy to small retail customers.

The Customer Council is made up of consumer representatives from organisations such as Uniting Care, St Vincent de Paul and the Consumer Law Advocacy Centre. Through the Customer Council significant benefits have been achieved, through increased understanding of the issues by both parties, and by enabling AGL to be more responsive to the needs of its small retail customers.

AGL will be working closely with the Customer Council to ensure the impacts of the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme on our customers are well understood, following the release of the Commonwealth Government’s White Paper in late 2008.
